Across history, cultures as varied as the Mayans, Egyptians, Hebrews, Greeks, and early Christians used numbers to deepen their understanding of self, the cosmos, and the divine.
The numerology I practice is said to be rooted in the teachings of Pythagoras, the Greek mystic and philosopher born in the late 6th century BCE. Pythagoras founded a mystery school, where he taught that all existence could be understood through numbers, music, astronomy, and geometry. He believed in the mystical power of numbers as universal truths, forming a spiritual science.
Modern western numerology, as practiced today, grew from this foundation. It was developed further in the early 20th century by a U.S. music teacher who found a connection between the vibrations of musical notes and names. Among her students were Dr. Julia Seton and Dr. Juno Jordan, pioneers who dedicated 25 years to numerology research in California.
My own teacher studied directly under these women, carrying forward this legacy of insight and guidance.
